Welcome to the NSPA Forum 2025 in Örnsköldsvik 11–12 September

On 11–12 September, the NSPA Forum will be held in Örnsköldsvik, Västernorrland, Sweden. It is the yearly forum that gathers policymakers, officials, and stakeholders from the 14 regions in the network of Northern Sparsely Populated Areas (NSPA), to discuss common interests regarding EU policies of relevance for the European Arctic.
The NSPA in the European Arctic is an area in the core of growing geopolitical interests and holding resources for Europe’s ability to secure its strategic autonomy in today’s challenging world. The northernmost Europe is of overall increasing importance for EU’s security policy, green transition and global competitiveness. This will be discussed at the forum in connection to the newly launched report from the OECD on how to manage NSPA’s challenges and potentials to deliver long-term sustainable development and growth, with needed adapted national and EU support to release the local and regional potentials.
